Chasing Romance

Chasing Romance is a 55.5-metre Damen Yacht Support 5009, launched in July 2017 as New Frontiers and known as Shadow from 2018 until 2025. Damen built her on speculation as the first of its support vessels with an owner's suite and guest cabins, keeping the open working deck of the range: a 190 m² helipad that doubles as cargo space, a 12-tonne crane and a dive centre. She has a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, but no ice class.

In short

Chasing Romance was the first Damen yacht support vessel built with an owner's suite and guest cabins: launched in 2017 as New Frontiers, she sleeps six guests and four staff on top of a support vessel's working deck (Damen Yachting, Damen Yachting press release). That deck is a 190 m² helipad for helicopters up to 3,700 kg, which also takes tender cradles and containers, served by a 12-tonne crane that can launch a personal submarine (Boat International, Damen Yachting press release). Her range is 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, but her Bureau Veritas class carries no ice notation, so she is an open-water support platform rather than a polar one (Damen Yachting, Bureau Veritas). As Shadow she served as the support vessel for the 60.5-metre Amels 200 Moonstone (YachtBuyer, YachtBuyer).

Does Chasing Romance have an ice class?
No. Her Bureau Veritas class has no ice notation, and no ice or polar voyage by her has been reported (Bureau Veritas).
How far can Chasing Romance go without refuelling?
The builder gives a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, and she carries about 172,860 litres of fuel (Damen Yachting, Bureau Veritas).
Does Chasing Romance have a helipad?
Yes, a helipad of about 190 m² on the aft deck for helicopters up to 3,700 kg, but no hangar. The same deck carries tenders and containers (Boat International, Damen Yachting press release).
Which yacht did Shadow support?
As Shadow she was the support vessel for the 60.5-metre Amels 200 Moonstone, and the two were shown together at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale show. YachtBuyer still lists her as Moonstone's support vessel, but no dated source has said whether that continued after she was renamed (YachtBuyer, YachtBuyer).
Is Chasing Romance for sale?
No. As Shadow she was listed for sale from September 2024 to April 2025 and was then renamed; YachtBuyer lists her as not for sale (YachtBuyer, YachtBuyer).
