Abeona

Damen Yachting delivered Abeona in January 2023 as a custom support vessel for Koru, the 125.8-metre Oceanco schooner. She carries a helicopter in her own hangar, the tenders and toys the sailing yacht has no room for, and accommodation for 45 people, with a range of 5,000 nautical miles at a 15-knot cruising speed.

In short

Abeona is the 75-metre support vessel of the 125.8-metre sailing yacht Koru and the largest support vessel Damen Yachting has built, a custom design on its YS 7512 platform (Boat International). She has a helipad and a hangar for a helicopter with a D-value of 14, roughly 14 metres long with rotors turning, so a helicopter can travel with the schooner on a ship of its own (SWZ|Maritime, UK Civil Aviation Authority). She has a range of 5,000 nautical miles at her 15-knot cruising speed but no ice-class notation, which makes her an ocean-going shadow ship rather than a polar explorer (Boat International, SuperYacht Times). Since delivery she has followed Koru from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, and in 2026 she was tracked near French Polynesia (Boat International, Boat International).

Ice class
No ice-class notation has been published. She is classed with Lloyd's Register, and none of the published descriptions of her mentions ice strengthening
In ice, in practice
Without an ice notation the hull has no rated ice thickness. For comparison, the Finnish-Swedish rules expect a seagoing steel ship without ice strengthening to manage only very light ice under its own power. No voyage of hers into polar waters has been reported

She was launched at Vlissingen on 8 October 2022 under the project name YS 7512, went to sea for trials in the North Sea on 19 December 2022 under the working name Wingman, and was delivered at the end of January 2023, when she left Vlissingen as Abeona and sailed to Gibraltar. Abeona was the Roman goddess of voyages and departures. She was delivered about two months before Koru
Hull and superstructure
Steel displacement hull, aluminium superstructure, a high forebody and vertical bow, and an open aft deck for tenders and toys, worked by large cranes

The D-value is a helicopter's largest overall dimension with the rotors turning; for scale, the EC145 has a D-value of 13.63 m and a D14 deck marking. YachtBuyer places the landing pad above a service garage and bunker store. The deck's certification and maximum helicopter weight have not been published
