In short

Solaris heads Boat International's 2021 list of the ten largest explorer yachts, at 139.7 metres and 11,247 GT over eight decks (Boat International). Built by Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven to an exterior by the industrial designer Marc Newson, his first superyacht, she carries a helipad with a hangar, a crane and a side shell door for launching tenders, and tanks for 1,400,000 litres of fuel (YachtBuyer, SuperYacht Times). Her diesel-electric plant drives two ABB Azipods that SuperYacht Times called the most powerful of their kind fitted to a yacht (SuperYacht Times). Her range and any ice class have not been published, and since her delivery in May 2021 public reports place her in the Mediterranean, on the French Riviera, in Montenegro and on the Turkish coast, rather than on polar or remote voyages (Boat International, CNBC, Forbes).

Questions

Is Solaris an explorer yacht?
Yes. Boat International puts her first in its list of the ten largest explorer yachts (Boat International), and YachtBuyer describes her as a 139.7-metre expedition yacht (YachtBuyer). Her expedition features are a helipad with a hangar, a crane and side shell door for launching tenders, and 1,400,000 litres of fuel; no submarine or support vessel has been reported.
How far can Solaris travel without refuelling?
Her range has not been published by the shipyard or by Boat International, SuperYacht Times or YachtBuyer. YachtBuyer lists a fuel capacity of 1,400,000 litres, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 18 knots (YachtBuyer), but a range figure cannot be worked out from those numbers alone.
Does Solaris have an ice class?
None has been published in the sources this guide uses. YachtBuyer says only that she was designed and built to Lloyd's Register technical standards (YachtBuyer); her full class notation, including any ice class, has not been released by the shipyard or reported by Boat International or SuperYacht Times.
Does Solaris have a helipad, and what tenders does she carry?
Images of her show a large helipad (Boat International), and she has a helicopter hangar (YachtBuyer, BOOTE). Tenders are launched through a large shell door amidships, and she has a crane for the job; YachtBuyer lists a 12.6-metre Yachtwerft Meyer catamaran and two 8.5-metre Ribeye RIBs (YachtBuyer). Her lifeboats sit behind flaps in the arch over the superstructure (BOOTE).
Where has Solaris been?
After sea trials in the North Sea she was delivered in May 2021 and left Gibraltar for Barcelona on 6 June 2021 (Boat International). She spent her first summer on the French Riviera and was photographed between Juan-les-Pins and Cannes in October 2021 (Boat International). On 12 March 2022 she was in Tivat, Montenegro, and later that month she arrived in Bodrum, Turkey (CNBC). In January 2023 Forbes reported her anchored near Bodrum and then recorded her in Marmaris (Forbes, Forbes). No polar or other expedition voyages have been reported.
Who owns Solaris, and what is she worth?
She is reported to be owned by Roman Abramovich (Forbes, January 2023; CNBC, March 2022). Forbes estimated her value at $474 million, with data as of January 2023 (Forbes). Her build cost has not been published, and she is not listed for sale (YachtBuyer).
