Familia

Familia is the first Bering B121, a fully custom steel explorer launched in Antalya in 2024 as PHNX. Her 42,700 litres of fuel give a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles at 9 knots. In a six-month refit at Mengi Yay in Istanbul she was cut at midship and lengthened by two metres, from 37.43 to 40.04 metres, and her beach club became a tender garage. On 30 May 2026, less than two months after relaunching, she began taking on water at the pier in Sinop on Turkey's Black Sea coast and settled with only her superstructure above the surface. No ice-class notation has been published for her, and she has no helipad.

In short

Familia is the first Bering B121, a fully custom steel full-displacement explorer launched in Antalya in 2024 as PHNX, and she carries 42,700 litres of fuel for a range the builder puts at more than 5,000 nautical miles at 9 knots (Bering Yachts, SuperYacht Times). No ice-class notation has been published for her, and she has no helipad or submersible; her expedition kit is range, a steel hull and, since 2026, a garage for a large tender and two Jet Skis (YachtBuyer, Boat International). That garage came with a structural refit at Mengi Yay's Reviva Refit in Istanbul, where her hull was cut at midship and lengthened by two metres to 40.04 metres (Boat International, YachtBuyer). Less than two months after relaunching, and weeks after her redelivery to the owner, she began taking on water at the pier in Sinop, Turkey, on 30 May 2026 and settled with only her superstructure above water; all six crew got off unhurt, and the cause has not been officially published (Boat International, SuperYacht Times, Bering Yachts).

Build history
Built at Bering's yard in Antalya and launched as PHNX in May–June 2024, the second of three Bering launches within a single week; sea trials followed over the next months. The builder says it delivered her in January 2025 and that she completed a full cruising season. From October 2025 to April 2026 Mengi Yay's Reviva Refit in Tuzla, Istanbul, carried out Project R16: the hull was cut at midship and a two-metre section inserted to improve stability, seakeeping and volume, lowering her centre of gravity; the beach club with sauna and gym became a tender garage; the petrol store was re-engineered; a new upper-deck staircase was added and she was fully repainted. She was relaunched in early April 2026 and delivered to her owner later that month. Bering says the refit was carried out independently by a third party most listings give 2024 as the delivery year
Sinking at Sinop
She arrived at the pier in Sinop, on Turkey's Black Sea coast, on 28 May 2026. On the evening of 30 May she began taking on water; by the morning of 31 May her hull was submerged with only the superstructure above water. Her six crew were evacuated without injuries. Heavy rain was reported that night, and no official cause has been published. In mid-June local Turkish media reported that a seven-day salvage operation with lifting bags and cranes had refloated the yacht, that water had entered through the Jet Ski garage door, and that she would be taken to Tuzla, Istanbul, for repair. Her condition since then has not been reported
Where she has been
The builder says she completed a full cruising season after her delivery in January 2025; no itinerary has been published. After her 2026 refit in Istanbul, the next reported port was Sinop on Turkey's Black Sea coast, where she arrived on 28 May

Questions

Is Familia the same yacht as PHNX and the Bering B121?
Yes. Bering Yachts launched her in 2024 as PHNX, the first hull of its custom B121 design, and she was later renamed Familia; her IMO number is 1066049 (Bering Yachts, YachtBuyer, VesselFinder).
What happened to the yacht Familia in Sinop?
She began taking on water at the pier in Sinop, Turkey, on the evening of 30 May 2026, weeks after a major refit, and by the next morning only her superstructure was above water. All six crew were evacuated unhurt; no official cause has been published (Boat International, SuperYacht Times). Local Turkish media later reported that she had been refloated and would go to Istanbul for repair (İstiklal).
How long is Familia?
40.04 metres since a 2026 refit at Mengi Yay that inserted a two-metre section at midship; she was 37.43 metres as built in 2024 (Boat International, SuperYacht Times, Bering Yachts).
How far can Familia go without refuelling?
Bering Yachts gives more than 5,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 9 knots, from 42,700 litres of fuel; Boat International's directory lists 4,000 nautical miles at the same speed (Bering Yachts, SuperYacht Times, Boat International).
Does Familia have an ice class or a helipad?
No helipad, and no ice-class notation has been published for her; since 2026 her stern holds a garage for one large tender and two Jet Skis (SuperYacht Times, Boat International).
Is Familia for sale or charter?
She is not listed for sale, and no charter listing has been published (YachtBuyer, SuperYacht Times).
