In short

Andromeda, launched as Ulysses, was the first private yacht built by Kleven, a Norwegian yard known for offshore support vessels, and is built on an offshore-vessel platform developed by Marin Teknikk (Boat International, SuperYacht Times). She carries 470,000 litres of fuel for a range of 8,500 nautical miles at 12 knots (Boat International), a helicopter pad with a hangar and refuelling, and a 21-metre catamaran tender with its own cabins, lifted off the foredeck by two cranes (SuperYacht Times). Her DNV class includes Ice(C), the basic notation that DNV's current rules call Ice-C, for light ice and light drift ice in river mouths and coastal areas, so her hull is strengthened for light ice rather than for working in pack ice (DNV, DNV rules). Her reported whereabouts so far are the Mediterranean, La Rochelle on the French Atlantic coast, Singapore and Miami; no polar voyage has been reported (SuperYacht Times, Boat International, DNV).

Questions

What makes Andromeda an explorer yacht?
She was built by Kleven, a Norwegian yard that makes offshore support vessels, on an offshore platform by Marin Teknikk (SuperYacht Times). She has a steel hull with DNV's Ice(C) notation (DNV), a range of 8,500 nautical miles at 12 knots (Boat International), dynamic positioning, a helipad with a hangar, and a landing craft, an amphibious RIB and a 21-metre catamaran among her tenders (Boat International).
How far can Andromeda go without refuelling?
Her published range is 8,500 nautical miles at 12 knots, from 470,000 litres of fuel (Boat International). Endurance in days has not been published; her first owner said that with full tanks and stores she "can go for months" (Boat International).
What ice class does Andromeda have?
The DNV register gives Ice(C) within her class notation +1A1 Passenger ship Clean COMF(C-3, V-1) E0 Ice(C) (DNV). DNV's current rules call this notation Ice-C and apply it to light ice conditions and light localised drift ice in river mouths and coastal areas, with strengthening at the bow only (DNV rules). It is DNV's basic ice notation: the Baltic notations from Ice(1C) to Ice(1A*) and the polar classes set stronger requirements.
Does Andromeda have a helipad and a submarine?
She has one certified helipad with a hangar on the bridge deck aft, sized for a Bell 429 or EC145 and fitted with a refuelling station (SuperYacht Times, Boat International). No submarine or separate support vessel has been reported; her largest tender, the 21-metre catamaran U21, has cabins for seven guests and can cruise on its own (SuperYacht Times, Boat International).
Is Andromeda the same yacht as Ulysses?
Andromeda was launched as Ulysses for New Zealand businessman Graeme Hart and delivered in March 2016 (Boat International). After her sale in 2017 the name passed to Hart's next Kleven, a 116-metre explorer delivered in 2018 and now called Multiverse (Boat International, Boat International).
Where has Andromeda been?
After delivery she cruised the western Mediterranean from Palma in 2016 (SuperYacht Times) and had her hull faired at La Rochelle in 2017 (Boat International). She was off the Lerins Islands in France in August 2021 (SuperYacht Times), and her class surveys were held in Singapore in 2021, Miami in 2024 and Italy in 2026 (DNV). No polar voyage has been reported.
